Echternach in eastern Luxembourg is set to host this year's official Europe Day festivities in the Grand Duchy.

This follows Europe Day celebrations in Esch-sur-Alzette in 2022 and in Luxembourg City in 2023 and 2024.

The organisers noted that the proximity of Echternach to Germany and the involvement of the city of Trier will give this year's celebrations a cross-border dimension.

Visitors are invited to explore the diversity of Europe by visiting the European village and its stands on Saturday 10 May 2025, from 12:00 to 18:00. A varied programme with cultural and musical highlights awaits the public, with the presence of Grand Duke Henri and other prominent personalities. Food and entertainment are on the agenda. Entry is free of charge.

The Representation of the European Commission in Luxembourg is organising this event in collaboration with the City of Echternach, the Lycée Classique d'Echternach, the Luxembourg government and the European Parliament.

Among those set to be present at Europe Day 2025 is the municipality of Buren which will represent the Netherlands, at the invitation of the Dutch Embassy in Luxembourg. PCG Buren policy advisors and fruit growers Wim van Leeuwen and Wim Zondag will travel to Luxembourg to host the Dutch stand and offer a taste of what the Betuwe (Batavia) region has to offer. Other EU Member States will be represented at the European village by embassies, associations, etc.
