The Nature and Forest Agency of Luxembourg's Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Sustainable Development has announced that it is organising the first edition of "Réiser Bëschdeeg" (Roeser forest days) on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 June 2024.
This thematic event will take place in the forest adjacent to the "Herrchesfeld" in Crauthem (municipality of Roeser). Along a 2.5 km route, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the forest and its resources. They can discover the use of wood in everyday life through information stands and take part in forestry demonstrations. The event will explore the complete journey of wood, from the felled tree to final products such as construction wood or energy wood.
Michel Leytem, Director of the Nature and Forest Agency, emphasised: "With the Réiser Bëschdeeg, our goal is to present citizens with the diversity of forests and woods. Each of us uses and exploits wood in our daily lives, often without knowing it. With this event, we want to raise awareness of the raw material wood and draw attention to its value, which should not be underestimated."
In addition to forest management activities, educational activities and DIY workshops will be available for children. A horse-drawn carriage shuttle will take visitors to the event location. Visitors will also have the opportunity to purchase wooden and other forest products. A BBQ stand on-site will serve game products and drinks.
