The Union des Jeunes Meechtem has announced details of the first Open Air Meechtem on Friday 18 August 2023 which is being organised in the context of the 37th Wine-festivities in Machtum and the 16th German-Luxembourgish Wine-happening.
The organisers - who previously organised the Rock de Schleek event - are holding the event at the Meechtem Schliikeplaz in the centre of the village, with music provided by DJ Lucci, Pinkspace and DJ SE7EN, from 21:00.
Tickets cost €15 (at the door) or €10 (pre-sale)
The Vewrnissage (official opening) of the Meechtem Wine Happening (and art exhibition) is on Thursday 17 August 2023, with the Union des Jeunes organising the Open Air Meechtem on the Friday. The site will be shut down at night, so that the members of the Entente des Société Meechtem can set up for the big day on Sunday which will be the 37th Wäischmachen as part of the 16th German-Luxembourgish Wine Happening, which has been celebrated with the German neighbours of Nättel for the past 16 years.
Visitors can travel by boat between the two villages on both sides of the Moselle. The Meechtem Wäischmachen and the Netteler fairs attract thousands of visitors from the surrounding area every year. Last year, around 8,000 people took the ship shuttle.
