The Nature Park Our has announced that it will organise guided hikes in collaboration with the Regional Tourist Office of Éislek (ORT Éislek) on a thematic trail following in the footsteps of Second World War resistance fighters who escaped the country, starting from Sunday 30 July 2023.
The focus is on the escape routes of Luxembourg resistance fighters and those resisting forced conscription during the last years of the Second World War, as they fled to the Belgian border, as well as the tragic story of the Kremer family. The “Sentier des Passeurs” (escape route) was created to preserve the memory of these actions. This hike broadly follows the original route taken by those who escaped and combines historical awareness with a discovery of the nature surrounding Troisvierges.
These guided hike tours will be held in Luxembourgish, German, French and/or English according to the composition of the group. They will take place on several Sundays this summer, namely on 30 July and 6, 13 and 20 August 2023 at 10:00, departing and arriving at the Troisvierges station.
The price of the guided tour is €5 per person (free for children under ten). The hike is expected to take around three hours (8 km) and it is described as easy to medium difficulty. Participants are encouraged to bring solid shoes.
Prior ticket purchase is required, with online tickets available on the Visit Eislek website: www.visit-eislek.lu. The full programme is also available on this website.
