Pétrusse Casemates to Reopen for 2023 Tourist Season

The Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO) has confirmed that the Casemates de la Pétrusse, a major tourist attraction in the city of Luxembourg and the Grand Duchy, will once again be accessible to the public from 7 April 2023 after maintenance work and annual periodic checks.

Thanks to an innovative audiovisual scenography, tailor-made in collaboration with Tido Brussig Szenerien, the Casemates de la Pétrusse are to be illuminated with light effects and sound effects to guarantee an unforgettable experience for visitors who can expect projections on the gallery walls and impressive sound reproductions; a real unique dive into time where the rocks of the casemates come to life to tell their story...

Being part of the huge underground military defense system of the ancient fortress town whose origins date back to the year 1644, it is not surprising that most people associate the Casemates de la Pétrusse with military purposes. However, in reality, the Casemates de la Pétrusse have never been used for warlike activities.

A place for growing mushrooms, a champagne cellar, the headquarters of a shooting society, a place for charity bazaars, an air-raid shelter and a tourist attraction since 1933: these are just a few of the many unusual uses of the Casemates over the centuries and decades.

From 5 April, tickets will be sold online at https://luxembourg-city.com and at the LCTO tourist information office located at Place Guillaume II. Visitors can join an accompanied exploration by choosing the date, time and language at their convenience.

Tickets cost €15 for adults and €12 for students and seniors, with €7.50 for children (4-12 years). Admission is free for children under 4 years old.

The duration of the exploration of the casemates is 45 minutes maximum. Visitors are requested to wear appropriate footwear and clothing.
