Today, Wednesday 8 March 2023, marks International Women's Day, a global celebration of the achievements of women, as well as a platform to push for gender equality; the theme this year is #EmbraceEquity.

In Luxembourg, various companies and organisations are organising special events for this occasion. Chronicle.lu has compiled a list of some of the main things to see and do to mark International Women's Day in the Grand Duchy this year.

Women's march: JIF Luxembourg is organising its annual feminist march in Luxembourg City on Wednesday. The goal is to promote gender equality and a more inclusive and just society. Everyone is invited to join this march, which departs Place Hamilius in Luxembourg-Ville at 17:00. Participants are encouraged to bring along drums or other instruments and wear purple accessories. 

Women's creator market: LUX WMN and ING Luxembourg have joined forces to hold a Women's Creator Market on ING's premises in Luxembourg-Gare on Wednesday from 16:00 to 19:00. Pearls of Wisdom: The British Chamber of Commerce for Luxembourg's (BCC) People and Leadership Group, in partnership with The NETWORK, will hold an International Women's Day event at Atoz Luxembourg on Wednesday at 18:00. Guest speaker and politician Erna Hennicot-Schoepges will share her insights and experiences at this event called "Pearls of Wisdom: From one generation to another". (SOLD OUT)

PwC/AMCHAM: For the sixth year in a row, PwC Luxembourg and the American Chamber of Commerce in Luxembourg (AMCHAM) are organising their annual International Women's Day event at PwC Crystal Park on Wednesday from 11:30 to 14:00. Afterwork networking: Various local women's organisations, including Girls in Tech Luxembourg, have come together to organise an International Women's Day afterwork networking event at Grizzly Bar in Rives de Clausen on Wednesday at 18:30. This event, which takes the form of a national fair, will present various opportunities for women in tech, law and beyond in Luxembourg. Cosy store event: The British Ladies Club of Luxembourg (BLC) and the Crème Ladies Club are organising a casual and intimate International Women's Day event at Les Sûtras boutique in Luxembourg-Ville on Wednesday at 18:30. Speaking to Chronicle.lu about the importance of this date, Mariana Florea, President of local professional women's association The NETWORK (co-organiser of the BCC event), said: "It's a day to celebrate and recognise the role of women in shaping the world we live in! It's a day for women to remember the importance of self-care, self-reflection and self-advocacy!​ It's a day to create awareness, start discussions and encourage actions towards creating a more equitable world! #EmbraceEquity".
