Luxembourg's nature conservation non-profit organisation natur&ëmwelt has announced bird watching events on the occasion the EuroBirdwatch Day on Saturday 1 October 2022 in Biodiversum, Remerschen and on Sunday 2 October 2022 in bird ringing station at Schlammwiss nature reserve, Munsbach.

In autumn, many migratory bird species leave their breeding grounds to spend the winter in the south. These annual movements are referred to as bird migration.

Identifying migratory birds is not easy, however, as many foreign species are also seen during migration. In exchange with ornithologists, participants will learn a lot about the fascinating world of birds in the two nature reserves.

30 European and Central Asian countries take part in EuroBirdwatch Day. All bird sightings are noted, counted and the results are reported on 6 October on the website www.naturemwelt.lu. The three most common bird species are highlighted.

On 1 October 2022 from 10:00 to 18:00, a family festival will take place in the Biodiversum Camille Gira in Remerschen. A photo tour with nature photographer Roland Felten will start at 8:00. Interested people to join the event should bring their own camera. At 8:30 there will be a bird tour of the “Haff Réimech” area. For all English-speaking bird lovers, the tour starts at 9:00. For families, the event starts at 10:00. A range of workshops for children will be organised during the day.

Bird ringing will available throughout the morning. A small art market, a photo exhibition as well as specialist literature and nature conservation products will be available during the event. Food and drink will also be on offer.

All tours at Biodiversum requires prior registration via tel.: 24 75 65 31 or by email to biodiversum@anf.etat.lu.

The tour duration will be approximatly 2 hours. Sturdy shoes and warm clothing are recommended. Prior registration is required via tel. or SMS to 621 29 36 95 or by email to j.p.schmitz@naturemwelt.lu.
