The Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO) has announced that it is organising two themed guided tours on the occasion of Europe Day 2022.
Europe Day is celebrated each year on 9 May to commemorate the Schuman Declaration, which was made on that date in 1950 and which is now considered the founding act of the European Union (EU). On the occasion of this special day, the LCTO is organising two thematic guided tours: the "Circuit Schuman" and the "Circuit Luxembourg, European capital: an ongoing commitment" (Luxembourg, capital européenne: un engagement continu).
As its name suggests, the "Circuit Schuman" will take visitors in the footsteps of Robert Schuman, one of the architects of the European integration project. Participants will have an opportunity to familiarise themselves with his life, his birthplace in Clausen and the key places of the foundation of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC).
The "Circuit Luxembourg, European capital: an ongoing commitment" will introduce visitors to the city of Luxembourg as one of the three official seats of the EU. Participants will discover the emblematic places of the city centre and the European district of Kirchberg with its impressive architecture which houses many European institutions, including the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU), the European Parliament and the European Investment Bank (EIB), among others.
From 7 to 9 May 2022, the LCTO will organise the following themed guided tours in English:
- Circuit Luxembourg, European capital: a continuous commitment (3 hours) on Saturday 7 May @ 14:00 and on Monday 9 May @ 14:30
- Circuit Schuman (2 hours) on Sunday 8 May @ 14:00
