The organisers of the popular Discover Luxembourg annual event which had its 12th edition last year, have announced that this year's event, originally scheduled for Saturday 12 September, is being postponed.
The event organiser, Geoff Thompson, explained "We have just received notification this morning from the Ville de Luxembourg that the Discover Luxembourg 2020 event cannot proceed on Saturday 12 September due to COVID-19 restrictions. This decision was taken at the level of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen at the Ville de Luxembourg and affects all such outdoor events. We had been liaising with the various people involved in the authorisation and planning process and we had received informal approval that our proposed changes (physical distancing, hygiene, etc.) would be accepted. However, this was not the case with the formal authorisation request. While we are naturally disappointed, we fully respect the decision which affects such public events being held up to the end of September. We hope that the situation will be relaxed after then and, if so, we will plan for the Discover Luxembourg 2020 event to be held later in the autumn."
