The 12th edition of the Discover Luxembourg event, organised by G-Media (publisher of Chronicle.lu), will take place on Saturday 7 September 2019; this year's event will support local charity "Ile aux Clowns".

Discover Luxembourg is an annual urban fun walk which is supported by the Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO), the Ville de Luxembourg and ING Luxembourg. The principle of the event is for participants to enter a team on a discovery voyage around Luxembourg City while having fun and sampling its lush history, rich culture, delicious gastronomy and exciting technology.

Teams of four people will follow a series of clues to ten event stations (sponsored by different companies and organisations) at which they undergo entertaining “challenges” to win points. These challenges consist of tasty gastronomic samplings, intriguing cultural and historical puzzles and active sporting elements, along with some stimulating brain-teasers.

Between 40 and 80 teams of four people are expected to participate in the event. Anyone can enter provided that at least one team member is over 18 years of age, for security purposes. As last year, there will be two course in operation, a short course for families with young children and a longer course. This year, however, all teams will follow the same route (the longer course goes downhill; the shorter includes just a few steps).

All teams need to bring with them is strong walking shoes – the event is expected to take three to four hours to complete – and protection against the weather (sun hats, sun cream, umbrellas...). All teams are asked to turn up at least 20 minutes before their allotted start time which will be communicated to them by email, before 12:00 noon on Friday 6 September. A number of team slots are also being kept for individuals and tourists who may register shortly before or on the day of the event.

Before they start out on the courses from Place Guillaume II, each team will be given an Information Pack, containing information from a number of Event Partners and Sponsors, as well as a city map and pens.

No special physical training or knowledge about Luxembourg City is required. Please note that all information on the day will be primarily in English.

The event concludes with a prize-awarding ceremony at the Finish Station (location to be revealed on the day) at around 19:00. Prizes will be awarded to many participating teams. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

Teams can register online until Thursday 5 September at www.discover-lux.lu (€60 for a team of four people, plus admin charge). Individuals can register (€15 per person) on Saturday 7 September from 11:00 at the Discover Luxembourg desk in front of the LCTO in Place Guillaume II.
