The next seed distributions at the “Klouschtergaart” in Luxembourg-Grund take place in the coming weeks.

The Klouschtergaart, a terraced garden located at the foot of the Bock Rock in the Grund Valley in Luxembourg City, aims to reintroduce the plants of yesteryear and preserve the rare crops traditionally grown in Luxembourg.

Thanks to the special microclimate at the foot of the Bock, these traditional useful plants thrive. In addition, thanks to a selection process, they become more and more resistant and are therefore particularly well adapted to the Luxembourg climate.

By harvesting seeds of rare species, the Ville de Luxembourg (VdL) contributes to the preservation of these plants over time. For several years now, the Parks Service has been distributing the harvested seeds free of charge (within the limits of available stock), thus encouraging the reintroduction of traditional crops in school gardens as well as in private gardens.

The next seed distributions at Klouschtergaart (access via Rue Plaetis; no guided tours) will take place on Tuesday 19 March and Thursday 21 March 2019 from 11:00-12:45 and on Saturday 23 March 2019 from 10:00-12:00.
