The Ville de Luxembourg (VdL) has announced the 191st edition of its annual traditional market "Éimaischen", to take place on Easter Monday, 2 April 2018, from 08:00 to 18:00 in the Old Town.
As every year, the Easter festivities announce the arrival of the traditional "Éimaischen" craft market with its famous "Peckvillercher" ceramic bird whistles. This year’s festivities will be held in the historic streets of the old town, around the Grand-Ducal Palace, Place Guillaume II, the Place d'Armes and along Grand-Rue to Rue du Fossé.
The day will be animated by different folk groups which will propose animations of song, dance and music: Uucht–La Veillée, La Ronde Beetebuerg, Vallée des Sept Châteaux (11:00); Lidderuucht Lëtzebuerg (10:00); CITYBRASSBAND (13:00).
In addition, from 23 - 31 March, the Groupe Animation Gare non-profit association will again organise its traditional Easter market "De Lapouer op der Gare" in the Place du Paris; daily they will distribute (from 10.30 to 18:00) colorful eggs to passersby and will sell Easter items (Easter eggs, decoration, etc.), the proceeds of which will go to charity.
Finally, during the Easter holidays, from 31 March to 15 April included, a carousel for children will be installed at the "Roude Pëtz" in the Grand-Rue, as well as a small train at the place Guillaume II from 31 March to 13 April inclusive.
In addition to Luxembourg city holding its annual Easter Monday market, so too does the town of Nospelt in the west of the Grand Duchy.
