On Monday 17 June 2024, the draw for the European Group III at the Billie Jean King Cup tennis competition being played in Chisinau in Moldova was made.
Luxembourg are playing Ireland, Montenegro and Azerbaijan in the Foursomes, on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 10:00 CET. The format is a two-stage round-robin competition; one pool of three teams and two pools, with the winners competing in a round-robin on Thursday-Saturday to win promotion to Europe/Africa Group II in 2025. A small prize will also be awarded to the group winners.
The tournament is being played on hard courts, outdoors.
Luxembourg's captain Anne Kremer selected Marie Weckerle, Lucie Rabiot, Claudine Schaul, Liz Baddé and Erna Brdarevic for the event in Moldova; they are accompanied by coach Frédéric Baade.
In Monday's first round of matches, Luxembourg defeated Azerbaijan 3-0 and Ireland was leading Montenegro 1-0.
In Luxembourg's match, Rabiot ran out a comfortable winner against Evyazova 6-0, 6-1 (in just 44 minutes), while Weckerle defeated Dzjachangirova 7-5, 2-6, 6-1. In the doubles, Baddé and Brdarevic defeated Dzjachangirova and Evyazova 6-3, 6-0.
Luxembourg's next match is tomorrow, Tuesday 18 June at 10:00 CET against Montenegro.
