Tuesday marked Day 2 of the BGL BNP Paribas Luxembourg Open 2021 at the CK Sportcenter in Kockelscheuer.
Fourth seed Ekaterina Alexandrova edged past Swiss wildcard Stefanie Vogele in three sets in the round of 32 at the Luxembourg Open. The 26-year-old Russian ultimately prevailed 6-1 3-6 6-3 to secure her place in the last 16.
Fellow Russian Liudmila Samsonova also progressed to the last 16 after beating Japan's Misaki Doi 6-2 6-3, as did French eighth seed Alizé Cornet, who beat Russia's Anastasia Potapova 6-4 6-2.
Day 2 also saw wins for 18-year-old Clara Tauson (Denmark), Croatia's Jana Fett and France's Océane Dodin.
