The winners of yesterday's BGL BNP Paribas Luxembourg Open matches were Elena Rybakina, Laura Siegemund, Anna Blinkova, Julia Goerges, Jelena Ostapenko and Margarita Gasparyan.
The match day started with a 6-2, 6-1 victory for 20-year-old Kazakh–Russian tennis player and world no. 43 (WTA), Elena Rybakina, over her Czech opponent Denisa Allertova (WTA 247).
Next up was a match between world no. 79 Laura Siegemund (Germany) and world no. 52 Viktoria Kuzmova (Slovakia). The 31-year-old German tennis player won the match 6-2, 6-3.
Similarly, Anna Blinkova, 21-year-old world no. 66 from Russia, won her match 6-4, 6-0 against US opponent Coco Guaff (WTA 71). Blinkova's victory was followed by that of Germany's Julia Goerges (WTA 26) over Japan's Misaki Doi (WTA 74). The 33-year-old world no. 26 won the match 5-7, 6-1, 6-3.
Later in the day, 22-year-old world no. 63 Jelena Ostapenko (Latvia) defeated her opponent, the 17-year-old Catherine McNally from the USA (WTA 108), 7-5, 7-3.
The match day concluded with the 6-2, 7-5 victory of 25-year-old world no. 81 Margarita Gasparyan (Russia) over Romanian tennis player Monica Niculescu (WTA 111).
Today's lineup will see Monica Puig (Puerto Rico) and Kristyna Pliskova (Czech Republic) go head to head, as well as Tatjana Maria (Germany)
and Anna Blinkova (Russia), Elise Mertens (Belgium) and Jelena Ostapenko (Latvia), Antonia Lottner (Germany) and Andrea Petkovic (Germany), and Sorana Cirstea (Romania) and Julia Goerges (Germany).
