Luxembourg tennis player Mandy Minella has lost her second round singles match and first round doubles match at the Roland-Garros (French Open) in Paris.
Following her victory against Russia's Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the first round, WTA 100th ranked Mandy Minella lost in straight sets to Latvian opponent Anastasija Sevastova, in the second round of the French Open on Tuesday.
The WTA 12th ranked Anastasija dominated the first set and only allowed Mandy to win two games. With some vocal Luxembourgish fans cheering Mandy on, she rallied In the second set winning four games. The final score was 6-2 and 6-4 for Anastasija Sevastova, who will compete against Belgian WTA 20th ranked Elise Mertens in the third round following the latter's victory over French opponent Diane Parry.
On Thursday, Mandy Minella and her Belgian partner Alison Van Uytvank played against Russia's Natela Dzlamidze and WTA 83rd ranked Vitalia Diatchenko in the first round of the women's doubles. The Luxembourg-Belgian duo prevailed 7-5 in the first set, but could not maintain the pressure in the next two sets when their opponents won 6-2 and 6-2.
