Luxembourg financial trade union ALEBA has called for the extension of the deadline for non-resident married employees regarding the determination of tax rates.

Over the past few weeks, the Administration des Contributions Directes (ACD) has been sending letters to non-resident married employees of Luxembourg demanding that they confirm their tax rate category for 2018.

However, ALEBA, which is the biggest trade union in Luxembourg in the financial sector and represents thousands of non-resent employees, has put forth its opinion that the deadline imposed by the ACD- 31 October 2017- does not give these employees enough time to decide.

Indeed, the trade union has stated that, due to the importance of this decision along with its consequences, it is necessary to offer said employees as much help as possible. As such, ALEBA has asked the ACD to extend its deadline to one month later, that is 30 November 2017.

In this context, ALEBA will contact the concerned ministries and administrations.
