The Luxembourg Stock Exchange (LuxSE) announced today that the United Nations Global Climate Action Awards 2020 has recognised the Luxembourg Green Exchange (LGX) for its leadership in tackling climate change; the United Nations (UN) Climate Change awarded LGX the prestigious prize in the category "Financing for Climate Friendly Investment".

The awards, which are organised by the UN Climate Change's Momentum for Change initiative, recognised thirteen institutions across the world that have demonstrated innovation and leadership in their actions to address climate change.

Julie Becker, Deputy CEO of LuxSE and Founder of LGX, commented: "We established LGX four years ago as a direct contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Climate Agreement. Ever since, we have made it our priority to help reorient capital flows towards green, social and sustainable investment. Therefore, we are deeply honoured to have our efforts and impact recognised by the UN and its Momentum for Change initiative".

Ms Becker added: "We would like to take this opportunity to thank our loyal issuers, who have contributed directly to the growth of the sustainable finance market, and to LGX. Our race to curb the rate of climate change is not the mission of a single person or institution, but a global effort that we all undertake together".
