Laetitia Hamon, Head of Sustainable Finance at LuxSE;

The Luxembourg Stock Exchange (LuxSE) has announced the appointment of Laetitia Hamon as the company’s Head of Sustainable Finance: as from 15 July, the sustainability expert will take the reins of LuxSE’s sustainable finance team and the company’s renowned platform for sustainable securities, the Luxembourg Green Exchange (LGX).

We are very pleased to welcome Laetitia to our team. For the past 10 years, she has been developing a broad skill set and in-depth, practical expertise of sustainable finance matters. Thanks to her focus on climate change and sustainability in previous roles, Laetitia can play a key role in the future development of LGX. Her sound knowledge of the Luxembourg fund industry will also be an excellent addition to our fixed-income market expertise, and help us cater to the needs of a broad range of market participants,” commented Julie Becker, Deputy CEO of LuxSE and Founder of LGX.

Sustainability first

Laetitia Hamon brings a decade of experience in sustainability-related advisory work and audit of non-financial information. She is an expert in sustainable finance with in-depth knowledge of Sustainable Investments, Climate Finance and Corporate Social Responsibility. For a number of years, she has actively participated in local and international working groups in this field, including the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (ALFI) and the Climate Bonds Initiative (CBI). Previous positions include ESG and Fund Analyst, as well as Business Development Officer for LuxFLAG.

It is a privilege for me to join the Luxembourg Stock Exchange and contribute to its efforts to make capital markets more sustainable. Sustainable finance is at a turning point, and LGX is a frontrunner in the field, raising awareness and driving growth in Luxembourg and beyond. We now need to capitalise on this success to encourage all finance market participants to transition to a low-carbon and socially fair economy. This will be made possible by promoting transparency, contributing to education and giving access to relevant and reliable data,” said Laetitia Hamon, newly appointed Head of Sustainable Finance at LuxSE.

Mobilising private investment

LuxSE established LGX in 2016 to promote the sustainable finance agenda and help reorient capital flows into sustainable investment projects. LGX is the world’s leading platform for sustainable securities and now counts more than 760 securities by 130 different issuers, totalling EUR 285 billion. In May this year, LuxSE established the LGX Academy to strengthen sustainable finance education and increase financial professionals and students’ knowledge of sustainable instruments, standards and labels as well as sustainable finance market practices.

LuxSE is also developing a centralised datahub for sustainability data points that will allow investors to better understand the environmental impact of different financial products and thereby make more informed investment decisions.
