The Sports Department of the City of Luxembourg (Ville de Luxembourg - VdL) has announced its upcoming edition of “SdS Sport-Wochen” (sport weeks) to take place from 16 July to 24 August 2025.
For 42 years, the VdL Sports Department has been organising sports weeks every summer for young people aged eleven to seventeen. This year’s event consists of six mini sports weeks (Mini Sport-Wochen) for eleven- to twelve-year-olds and thirteen sports weeks (Sport-Wochen) for thirteen- to seventeen-year-olds. The courses last four to seven days (with or without overnight stays) and will take place in Luxembourg and abroad.
According to the VdL website, the programme aims to provide opportunities for boys and girls from all social backgrounds to engage in physical and sports activities during their free time, contributing to their overall development and well-being. It enables young people to discover new sports or improve their skills in a particular discipline, while also creating opportunities for them to share experiences, make new friends and take part in activities within a fun and friendly environment built on mutual respect between trainees and instructors.

The mini sport weeks include sporting activities suitable for children aged eleven to twelve, such as “mini multisports”, mini nautical “multisports”, mini sailing (Netherlands) and “mini maxi-sports”.

In addition to the courses organised in Luxembourg, participants can avail of sailing, windsurfing and kitesurfing weeks in the Netherlands (Brouwersdam), as well as an outdoor thrill seekers’ course (rafting, canyoning, climbing, etc.) in Austria (Ötztal).
The various sporting activities are provided by coaches in possession of a state certificate and in collaboration with numerous sports clubs in Luxembourg. General supervision is guaranteed by certified facilitators who have followed theoretical and practical training provided by the VdL Sports Department of and recognised by Luxembourg's Ministry of Education, Children and Youth.
