The City of Luxembourg's new "Sports for all" ("Sports pour tous") season will commence this Thursday 1 October 2020.

Despite the ongoing COVID-19 health crisis, the City of Luxembourg has decided to go ahead this autumn-winter season with its sports offer for young people, adults and seniors.

Taking into account the legal provisions in force as well as the recommendations of the Ministry of Health, the Sports Department has developed a varied programme offering more than 180 sports-leisure, fitness and health courses. The activities will take place from Monday to Sunday, indoors, in the swimming pool or in the open air and are spread over more than 30 sites across Luxembourg City.

Youth Programme
The programme for young people offers around 30 sports activities, including skateboarding, weight training, break-dance, zumba, qi gong, volleyball, badminton, chess, archery and table tennis.

Adult Programme
The sports offer for adults includes more than 100 weekly classes: stretching, maintenance, relaxation and preventive gym, gym for abdominal / back muscles, parent-child gym (1-4 year olds), fitness gym, ski fitness, bodybuilding, aquatic gymnastics, aqua jogging, jogging (various levels), Nordic walking, volleyball, etc.

Alongside these "classic" sports activities, the programme also includes unusual activities such as discovery curling, parent and child ice skating (4-11 year olds), field hockey, self-defence, fiesta fitness, cross fitness, taijiquan and qi gong.

55+ Programme
The sports programme for seniors offers activities adapted to the physical abilities of people aged 55 or over. These include walking, Nordic walking, stretching, soft gym, senior sports, gentle weight training, dance, ski gymnastics, aqua gym, badminton and chess.

To register, interested persons should complete the form available on sports.vdl.lu or from the Sports Department of the City of Luxembourg (5 Rue de l'Abattoir, L-1111 / email: sports@vdl.lu / tel.: 4796-4400 or 4796-4415).

When participating in lessons, a series of safety, distancing and hygiene measures are applicable in all sports establishments and open-air sites and during all the sports activities offered.

Participation in classes is free for young people, but prior registration with parental consent is required. The registration fee for adults and seniors living in Luxembourg City is €30 per class or €110 for a season pass. Residents of other municipalities can register for €60 per lesson or €220 for a season pass. One course per season of the “seniors” programme is offered free of charge to people aged 55 and over (registration required). Employees of the City of Luxembourg benefit from the same rate as residents, regardless of their place of residence.

Applicants for international protection can register for free in the "Sports for all" programme, provided they are supervised by a Luxembourg structure recognised for working with applicants for international protection.

The new "Sports for all - autumn-winter" leaflet contains the complete sports programme as well as practical details. It is supplemented by the “Sports Guide”, presenting the full offer of the City of Luxembourg, as well as sporting events, clubs and associations and all sporting infrastructures. These publications are available at the Sports Department and in the city's sports facilities, at the Bierger-Center, the town hall, the Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO) and on sports.vdl.lu.
