On Monday 26 January 2026, the Luxembourg Veterinary and Food Administration (ALVA) announced the recall of Babybio OPTIMA 1 infant formula powder due to the possible presence of toxins.

The ALVA has advised consumers not to use the products concerned due to the possible presence of cereulide, a toxin produced by the micro-organism Bacillus cereus.

The following products have been recalled: 

⁃ Babybio: “Optima 1”, 800 g; barcode: 3288131584317; use by date: 12 August 2027; lot number: 900035

⁃ Babybio: “Optima 1”, 800 g; barcode: 3288131580319; use by date: 9 and 12 August 2027; lot number: 894408 and 900035

According to the ALVA, the products may have been distributed at various points of sale in Luxembourg. 

There is currently an orange awareness level alert in place (i.e. medium risk/danger).

Consumers who have purchased the affected products are strongly advised not to consume it and to return it to the place of purchase.
