On Tuesday 20 January 2026, the Luxembourg City Business Association (UCVL) and the City of Luxembourg (VdL) announced the winners of the “Windows of Wonder” Christmas shop window decoration competition.
The competition took place across the capital’s 24 districts in December 2025, aimed at creating a warm and festive Christmas atmosphere during the darkest period of the year and to recognise the work of local retailers.
After evaluating the shop windows according to the established criteria, including the overall aesthetic of the display, technical execution, originality, creativity and the integration of the products sold into the display, the jury designated three joint winners, each receiving a subsidy of €2,000 offered by the VdL:
-
the restaurant “Brasserie des Jardins”, located at 27B Boulevard Marcel Cahen (Merl);
-
the shop “Ecrin de Verdure”, located at 54 Rue de Strasbourg (Gare);
-
the shop “Letz Bouquet”, located at 14 Avenue de la Porte-Neuve (Ville Haute).
According to the VdL, the jury was impressed by the creativity and commitment of the retailers, who turned their shop windows into “true Christmas stories and invested significant effort to transform their windows into powerful tools of attraction and communication”.
Furthermore, from Tuesday 9 to Wednesday 31 December 2025, the public voted for their favourite shop window. More than 3,200 votes were recorded. Following the vote, the café “Intense Coffee”, located at 61 Avenue Pasteur in Limpertsberg, won the public award and also received €2,000.
A total of 68 businesses took part in this year’s competition: 18% were located in the Gare district, 68% in Ville Haute and 14% in one of the other districts of the capital. 85% of the applications came from independent businesses, across all sectors of activity.
The jury was composed of:
-
Claude Bizjak, City Manager of the City of Dudelange;
-
Mélanie de Jamblinne, Director of Art Week Luxembourg;
-
Emilie Dufour, Director of “Vitrines de Strasbourg”;
-
Noémie Janes, set designer and decorator;
-
Laurent Schwaller, Head of the events, festivities and markets department of the VdL.
