On Friday 7 March 2025, the Cactus Group issued an alert to its customers, partners and suppliers in relation to an increase in fraudulent emails and malicious calls claiming to come from the Luxembourg supermarket chain.

In the announcement, the group advised that it would never ask for payment or banking information to participate in a competition, detailing that official competitions are only announced on its official website and through its verified communication channels. The group has urged customers and partners to be vigilant and to systematically check the authenticity of any messages received which pertain to be from the supermarket chain.

The Cactus Group provided an example of a fraudulent email currently circulating, which claims to come from "The Cactus Team”, using the email address "monalisa@localhorschft.info". The message states that the recipient has won an iPhone 15 Pro and invites them to click on a link to claim their prize.

This technique, referred to as “phishing”, is used to fraudulently obtain personal, financial or security data. Cybercriminals attempt to imitate official communications by using a company's logos, signatures and graphic identity in order to deceive recipients. By clicking on links contained in these fraudulent emails, users are redirected to fake websites designed to steal their identities along with other sensitive information.

The Cactus Group has strongly recommended that its customers and partners never communicate personal or banking information in response to a suspicious email or call, advise checking the authenticity of messages by going directly to Cactus’ official website and to report any suspicious messages by contacting them via its official channels.

The supermarket chain has advised that it takes this situation very seriously and is doing everything possible to identify and report these fraudulent practices to the competent authorities. The group stated that it has also contacted the Grand Ducal Police to request the publication of an alert on their official website in order to inform as many people as possible. The warning can viewed on the Grand Ducal Police website at: https://police.public.lu/fr/prevention/arnaques/scam-par-sms.html

The Cactus Group again urged its customers and partners to remain vigilant and to not hesitate in reporting any attempted scam. For additional information, the public may consult official Cactus sources. Cactus Group customer services can be contacted by email at service.clients@cactus.lu on working days from 08:00 to 12:00 and from 13:00 to 17:00.
