Lidl has announced the opening of its first self-service checkouts in Luxembourg.

On Friday 26 July 2024, the grocery store chain kicked off a programme for the opening of self-service checkouts in its stores in Luxembourg. The Bertange store has become its first point of sale equipped with these new terminals. Lidl customers can now go to the new self-service checkouts.

Julien Wathieu, spokesperson for Lidl Luxembourg, commented: "We are really delighted to be able to offer this new service to our customers. On the occasion of consumer surveys, self-service terminals were among the most frequent requests, which is why we wanted to meet this need. Our goal is to always make life easier for people who visit our Lidl stores. With these new self-service checkouts, we hope to save time and make shopping with us easier for our customers."

In total, Lidl plans to equip four stores with self-service checkouts by the end of 2024. The programme will continue with other stores to come in the coming weeks, namely in Windhof, Beggen and Dudelange.

In addition, the next stores to be renovated or new openings will be automatically equipped with new self-service checkouts.
