“I Don’t Believe In You” is the new single from one of Luxembourg’s most well-known singer-songwriters, Daniel Balthasar, his 19th to date.
It is an upbeat track that even enters into the realm of disco, an intriguing departure from recent releases, yet still possess a signature that is still recognisable as Daniel. Strings and an extremely lyrical cello flow into a lovely calmer interlude before that disco feel kicks in again for a crescendo ending.
The sound and energy of “I Don’t Believe In You” reflects what the song is all about. Daniel Balthasar himself explained that recently he has seen people around him who seem to have lost their drive. “It’s a sort of ‘get back in the arena’ song, so lyrically it is about questioning what’s important you, getting yourself together, and then achieving your goal,” he explained.
The song is the first from Daniel Balthasar’s forthcoming album entitled “Presence Of Absence”, due to be released in the first quarter of next year, his sixth so far in his musical career.
“I Don’t Believe In You” was actually recorded on the final day Daniel’s session at Wisseloord studios in The Netherlands together with is band. Mostly recorded live, it only took four or five takes for a major part of the composition with finishing touches and tweaks made for vocals in Luxembourg’s Linster Studios, and a string ensemble of 12 musicians at Motormusic Studios in Mechelen (Belgium).
