Luxembourg's Ministry of Higher Education and Research has announced the renewal of the Board of Directors of the National Research Fund (Fonds national de la recherche; FNR) and public research centres.

FNR Board of Directors

In accordance with the amended law of 31 May 1999 establishing a national fund for research in the public sector, His Royal Highness the Grand Duke has just appointed, on a proposal from the Cabinet, a new board of directors of the FNR for the 2019-2024 period.

From 1 December 2019 and for a term of five years, the FNR Board of Directors will be composed of: Tania Brugoni, Director of 1535° Creative Hub, Luxembourg; Stéphanie Damgé, Director of Jonk Entrepreneuren Luxembourg ASBL; Jean-Marc Fandel, Expert Advisor at scale up, Luxembourg; Yves Fromes, Doctor and Research Director at the RMA laboratory of the CEA-Institut de Myologie, France; Anouk Hilger, Director of Renewable Energies at Enovos, Luxembourg; Martine Reicherts, former Director General at the European Commission; Isabelle Schliesser, Director of ADEM, Luxembourg; Richard Sedrani, Director of Novartis, Switzerland; Thierry Wolter, Board Member of Ceratizit, Luxembourg. Martine Reicherts was appointed President and Thierry Wolter Vice-President of the Board of Directors of the FNR, which is thus composed of five women and four men.

Romain Martin, first government adviser to the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, has been appointed to the post of government commissioner to the FNR.

Public Research Centres

In accordance with the provisions of the law of 3 December 2014 relating to the organisation of public research centres, the Cabinet has appointed the Boards of Directors of the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER) and the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH), on the proposal of the Minister for Research in the Public Sector (and the Minister of Health in the case of the LIH).

From 1 January 2020 and for a five-year term, the LIST Board of Directors will be composed of: Tom Battin, Professor at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland; Candi Carrera, Country Manager of Microsoft Luxembourg; Etienne Jaque, Corporate R&D Manager at CEBI International SA, Luxembourg; Isabelle Kolber, Head of the SEBES (Syndicat des eaux d'Esch-sur-Sûre) laboratory, Luxembourg; Eva Kremer, Deputy Director of the National Credit and Investment Company (Société nationale de crédit et d'investissement), Luxembourg; Jacques Lanners, independent director in Luxembourg; Letizia Lukas, Managing Director of exigo SA, Luxembourg; Marie-Christine Mariani, CEO of MCM SARL, Luxembourg; Diane Wolter, independent philanthropy advisor, Luxembourg. Jacques Lanners was appointed President and Eva Kremer Vice-President of the LIST Board, which is thus composed of five women and four men.

Robert Kerger, advisor to the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, has been appointed to the position of government commissioner at LIST.

Similarly, from 1 January 2020 and for a five-year term, the LISER Board of Directors will be composed of: Valérie Ballouhey-Dauphin, Director and member of the Executive Committee of POST Luxembourg; Tom Bauler, Professor at the Université libre de Bruxelles, Belgium; Jim Clemes, Architect at jim clemes associates, Luxembourg; Jean-Marc Goy, Senior Counsel at Capital Group, Luxembourg; Véronique Hoffeld, avocate à la cour and member of the Management Committee and Partner at Loyens & Loeff, Luxembourg; Claude Lüscher, Founder of licent SARL, Luxembourg; Carole Reckinger, in charge of social and political surveillance at Caritas Luxembourg; Aline Schiltz, Researcher at the University of Lisbon, Portugal; Nico Weydert, honorary Deputy Director of STATEC, Luxembourg. Véronique Hoffeld was appointed President and Jean-Marc Goy Vice-President of the LISER Board, which is thus composed of four women and five men.

Christiane Huberty, advisor to the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, has been appointed to the position of government commissioner at LISER.

Finally, from 1 January 2020 and for a term of five years, the LIH Board of Directors will be composed of: Lysiane Back, former Vice-President of the BCEE, Luxembourg; Gregor Baertz, Medical Director at Hôpitaux Robert Schuman, Luxembourg; Françoise Berthet, Deputy Medical and Technical Director at the Health Department of the Ministry of Health, Luxembourg; Viviane Bremer, Head of Unit at the Robert Koch-Institut, Germany; Carole Brueckler, strategic advisor in the Department of Health Technologies at the Ministry of the Economy, Luxembourg; Alain Kohl, Professor at the University of Glasgow, United Kingdom; Robert Mueller, Doctor at Centre Hospitalier Emile Mayrisch, Luxembourg; Xavier Poos, Deputy Administrative Director at the Health Department of the Ministry of Health, Luxembourg; Pierrot Schiltz, lawyer in Luxembourg. Gregor Baertz was appointed President and Xavier Poos Vice-President of the LIH Board, which is thus composed of four women and five men.

Josiane Entringer, advisor to the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, has been appointed to the position of government commissioner at the LIH.
