On Sunday 15 May 2016, 21 young members of the Danish community in Luxembourg took their confirmation at the Eglise du St. Esprit in Luxembourg-Cents.

Confirmations always take place on a Sunday or a Public Holiday, usually during April and May, and Sunday's ceremony marked one of two big annual events held by Danish Church in Luxembourg after the Christmas bazaar.

Over 500 friends and family members gathered to watch the confirmation, a day in a young person's life for which they usually dress in a suit or dress, receive presents and money and decide the subsequent three course dinner meal which is accompanied by songs and speeches.

Confirmation means "saying yes" and in Christian tradition shows God's confirmation of his promise to remain with a baptised individual, who receives the blessing and a special greeting from the church in the form of a Bible verse that is thought of as a kind of life companion. Confirmation is not a sacrament in the Evangelicl Lutheran Church but a rite that also marks the passage from childhood to youth.

The confirmed children were: Sophia Poulsen-Barnes, Tristan Pigott, Oliver Panbianco, Tobias Olsen, Adam Okoniewski, Carl Nørlund, Victor Maj, Filippa Løfqvist, Alexandra Kjelgaard, Pernille Jørgensen, Jakob Jessen, Albert Jarbøl, Lærke Holst, Kirstine Henriksen, Thomas Hansen, Ella Gugel, Lucas Fast, Sara Courbin, Eva Christensen, Laura Bundgaard, Markus Berg.
