Luxembourg’s national railway company, the CFL, has announced that from Saturday 5 April 2025, it will expand its train services between Ettelbruck and Troisvierges in an effort to make it easier for passengers to explore the north of the country.

The CFL has reported that two trains per hour will now operate between Luxembourg and Troisvierges on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 08:00 to 18:00.

According to the CFL, this increase in service (four trains instead of three between Luxembourg and Ettelbruck and two trains instead of one between Luxembourg and Troisvierges) is intended to meet the demand from passengers who want to travel by train to enjoy hiking and cycling in the Eislek (northern) region between the months of April and September. The additional services are also intended to make it easier to attend events in the capital and visit the gardens of the 2025 LUGA exhibition, which opens on Wednesday 7 May 2025.

The CFL currently offers a selection of hiking and cycling routes with its Hike & Rail and Bike & Rail guides, which feature 43 hiking trails of varying difficulty and 20 cycling routes. The books are available at the CFL’s customer service and sales centres in Luxembourg and at Belval-Université in Esch-Belval, as well as all Ernster retail locations. Information on certain hikes can also be accessed for free on the CFL’s website.
