Luxembourg's railway authority, the CFL, has announced the schedule for major works taking place on rail line 10 (Luxembourg - Troisvierges - Gouvy) up until June 2020.

The CFL has recalled that these major works are being carried out in the framework of projects, such as the construction of a multimodal exchange hub in Ettelbruck, which will feature a bus station, a P&R building (430 seats), the renewal of the railway superstructures and the reconstruction of the passenger building. The station is to be commissioned for 2022 to 2023 and the P&R for 2024. At the same time as the station works, the Ettelbruck management station will be modernised by replacing it with a new computerised signaling station. This project will be completed in 2020.

In addition, the Mersch station will be modernised in order to prepare it for future needs. This project includes the construction of a P&R building (400 seats) and the adaptation of its passenger infrastructure. Commissioning is scheduled for 2023.

To ensure the smooth running of this work, the CFL will temporarily close certain sections of line 10, including during nights work phases.

Until June 2020, the following sections will be temporarily closed:

- between Ettelbruck and Diekirch: from Saturday 4 to Sunday 19 April 2020 inclusive (Easter holidays) as well as the weekends of 21 to 22 March, 28 to 29 March, 20 to 21 June and 27 to 28 June 2020;

- between Ettelbruck and Troisvierges: from Saturday 4 to Sunday 19 April 2020 inclusive (Easter holidays) as well as the weekends of 20 to 21 June and 27 to 28 June 2020;

- between Luxembourg and Diekirch: the weekends of 15 to 16 February, 7 to 8 March, 14 to 15 March, 25 to 26 April, 9 to 10 May and 16 to 17 May 2020.

At times, work will be carried out on an ad hoc basis at night in order to allow site personnel to work in optimal safety conditions and to limit the impact on rail traffic. The residents of the intervention areas in question will be informed in advance of work taking place at night near their home.
