Luxembourg's Ministry of Education, Children and Youth has presented statistics for the new school year.
Whilst classes have already resumed in certain private schools, such as the International School of Luxembourg (ISL) and St George's International School, the official back-to-school date for the 2024/2025 academic year is Monday 16 September 2024.
According to data presented by the Education Ministry, a total of 62,455 schoolchildren are enrolled in primary schools in Luxembourg (up from 61,528 in 2023/2024). This includes 56,687 in public schools and 5,768 in private schools.
In secondary schools, 53,692 students are set to start the new school year (up from 52,442). Among them, 43,372 students will attend public schools, while 10,320 will attend private schools.
Looking more specifically at the aforementioned private schools, the data indicated that 1,344 students were enrolled at ISL and 843 were enrolled at St George's for the new school year.
Beyond primary and secondary education, the data showed that 40,300 adults were enrolled in a vocational training programme and 17,600 students will attend the Institut National des Langues (INL).
The figures provided could change depending on the arrival or departure of students later in the year.
