On Sunday 4 October 2026, Amnesty International Luxembourg reported that 29 organisations forming part of the poverty and exclusion platform have renewed their “Declaration for the Right to a Roof”, calling for Luxembourg’s “permanent housing crisis” to be made a priority as MPs return to parliament.

According to Amnesty International Luxembourg, difficulties in accessing social or affordable housing remain a daily reality for a growing share of the population.

Since November 2025, several associations, including Amnesty International Luxembourg, Solidaritéit mat den Heescherten and UNICEF Luxembourg, have come together within the poverty and exclusion platform to draw up the “Declaration for the Right to a Roof”. Based on research, the declaration sets out ten concrete recommendations aimed at addressing the housing situation in what the organisation described as a realistic and equitable manner.

The declaration, which was launched at the beginning of the summer, has so far received the signatures of 29 organisations and 71 individuals. It has also been sent to government ministers, MPs, members of professional chambers, trade unions and Luxembourg municipalities.

The signatory organisations have renewed their call on ministers, MPs, members of professional chambers and municipalities to place the fight against what they describe as the “permanent housing crisis” at the top of their priorities as parliamentary activity resumes.

The declaration remains available on the Amnesty International Luxembourg website and can also be supported through an online signature.
