Luxembourg's Ministry of State has announced that, following a decision of the Prime Minister, the Ministry will undertake an internal reorganisation to create greater thematic synergies:
The Government Council (the cabinet) has appointed Michel Scholer, currently Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister, as Secretary General of the Government, effective 1 May 2025, replacing Christine Goy, who will pursue new challenges within the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, her original administration.
The main tasks currently performed by the Chief of Staff will continue to be carried out by Michel Scholer, with the position of Chief of Staff to be abolished. The entire cabinet will remain responsible for providing strategic advice to the Prime Minister.
Given the international context, Jacques Thill, First Government Advisor at the Ministry of State, has been appointed "security advisor" within the Prime Minister's office, in order to coordinate the ministry's cross-functional security issues, particularly those relating to the High Commission for National Protection, the State Intelligence Service and space policy.
