The next municipal elections will take place on Sunday 11 June 2023: all residents of foreign nationality over the age of 18 can also register on the electoral lists to vote, until the deadline on 18 April 2023.

With the support of the Ministry of Family, Integration and the Greater Region, the Centre d'Etude et de Formation Interculturelles et Sociales (CEFIS) is organising "Training of multipliers" in order to encourage and inform people around them to participate in the next municipal elections. Such training sessions are delivered in French, Portuguese and English

From now on, there are also new dates for January and February 2023 (in French, Portuguese and English). Those in English are being presented on 24 and 26 January 2023 in Luxembourg City (5 avenue Marie Thérèse) from 18:30 to 21:00. Online courses are also being held on 7 & 9 February 2023 (in French with English translation) at the same times.

A reform of the electoral law voted last July removes the eligibility condition to vote of the length of residence of 5 years; as a result, all residents of foreign nationality, European or non-European (holding a residence permit), can directly request to register on the lists. However, foreign residents may not be aware of this right, nor of what the municipality can do for them on a daily basis, nor of the electoral system in Luxembourg.

CEFIS, in partnership with the Ministry of Family, Integration and the Greater Region, is organising training courses for multipliers (a multiplier is a person within their community or group who can then share such knowledge). A multiplier makes it possible to disseminate information on the right to vote in municipal elections through information sessions, discussions with family, friends, etc., in various places.

At the end of the training session, those present will be able to answer the following questions:
• Who can register on the electoral lists and under what conditions?
• What are the competences and responsibilities of the municipalities?
• What are the different possibilities for filling in your ballot paper in Luxembourg?
• What are the arguments to raise awareness about registration?
