Luxembourg's Prime Minister and Minister of State, Xavier Bettel, will be travelling to Warsaw in Poland this Sunday for the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of the Second World War.

At the invitation of the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, Prime Minister Xavier Bettel will participate in commemorative ceremonies marking the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of the Second World War, being held in Warsaw on Sunday 1 September 2019.

Indeed, on 1 September 1939, Nazi forces invaded Poland, changing the course of history by plunging the world into a second world war.

The commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of the Second World War will be held in Piłsudski Square in Warsaw, where the tomb of the "Unknown Soldier" is located, a monument honouring the sacrifice of Polish soldiers. Heads of State and Government will also lay a wreath on this occasion.
