On Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 May 2024, the City of Luxembourg (Ville de Luxembourg – VdL) has announced that urban sports courses will be held the site of the former slaughterhouse (5 Rue de l’Abattoir, L-1111 Luxembourg) in Luxembourg-Hollerich.

The weekend will be dedicated to urban sports with different courses focused on the discovery and learning of Parkour, BMX, Inline-skating and skateboarding. Those interested to participate need comfortable clothes, a pair of running shoes and a change of clothes. Classes are open to all ages and levels (BMX being recommended from four years old). The unique works of art created by Lowic Villa on old skateboards as part of the “board in design” exhibition can be discovered throughout the weekend.

Participation is free, registration is not required.

This event is part of a programme aimed at valorising and revitalising the "Schluechthaus" (old slaughterhouse), with the objective of implementing, during a trial phase, the ideas and wishes collected through citizen participation regarding the future use of the site. Thus, prior to commencing the work, a variety of one-off events (including cultural, sporting, and intergenerational activities) will be offered on the "Schluechthaus" premises
