The Luxembourg Chamber of Employees (Chambre des salariés) recently launched a new platform for reflection on ways to achieve a fair and sustainable economy: Improof.

Improof aims to fuel public and political debate in Luxembourg. It will thus address what the Chamber of Employees deems essential themes for the future of the country such as, in particular, economic and social policy, the right balance between economy and ecology, the reduction of inequalities, the establishment of tax justice, the right to work faced with the evolution of new forms of work, and the importance of vocational training.

The reflections will be led by the Chamber of Employees' internal experts, as well as by external stakeholders (both national and international).

The first thematic block focuses on the relationship between taxation and inequality. According to the Chamber of Employees, income and wealth inequality are at their highest level since World War II. The same observation can be made for Luxembourg, where economic inequalities have increased since the 1980s.

The articles underline, among other things, the need for a fairer taxation of capital, the development of an inheritance tax or a tax on wealth.

The articles can be consulted on: improof.lu; the website is available in French, English and German.
