On Friday 2 August 2024, Patrizia van der Weken and Bob Bertemes competed in their respective athletics events for Team Lëtzebuerg at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games.

Patrizia van der Weken sailed through to the women’s 100m semi-final after finishing second in her Round One heat on Friday morning. The 24-year-old sprinter finished the heat in 11.14 seconds, behind Team USA’s Sha’Carri Richardson (10.94) and ahead of Australia’s Bree Masters (11.26). All three qualified for the semi-final, which is taking place on the evening of Saturday 3 August 2024.

On Friday evening, Bob Bertemes competed in the men’s shot put qualification ranking ninth in Group A, with a result of 20.27. However, he did not qualify for the next round.

Olympic Medals at a Glance

At the time of writing, China was top of the medal table, with thirteen gold, nine silver and nine bronze medals (31 medals overall). France is currently in second place, with eleven gold, twelve silver and thirteen bronze.

In third place, Australia has obtained eleven gold, six silver and five bronze medals (22), followed by the USA in fourth place, with nine gold, eighteen silver and sixteen bronze medals (43). Team USA still has the most medals overall. Great Britain rounds out the top five, with nine gold, ten silver and eight bronze medals (27) so far.
