On Thursday 1 August 2024, Luxembourg's Pit Klein took part in the men's archery individual 1/32 elimination round at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games.

The 27-year-old archer went up against Colombia's Santiago Arcil, aged 24. Despite taking an early lead, Pit Klein went on to lose 4-6, bringing his (first) Olympic journey to an end.

Friday 2 August 2024 will see athletes Patrizia van der Weken and Bob Bertemes compete for Team Lëtzebuerg, the former in the 100m race(s) and the latter in the men’s shot put qualification. They were the first two Luxembourg athletes to qualify earlier this year for the Paris Summer Olympics.

Olympic Medals at a Glance

At the time of writing, China was top of the medal table, with eleven gold, seven silver and six bronze medals (24 medals overall). Team USA has climbed to second place, with nine gold, fifteen silver and thirteen bronze, and still has the most medals overall (37); US superstar gymnast Simone Biles secured her sixth gold medal on Thursday.

In third place, France has obtained eight gold, eleven silver and eight bronze medals (27); on Wednesday 31 July 2024, French swimmer Léon Marchand won an impressive two gold medals on the same night.

France is currently followed by Australia in fourth place, with eight gold, six silver and four bronze medals (18). Japan, which had until very recently topped the medal table, rounds out the top 5, with eight gold, three silver and five bronze medals (16) to its name so far.

Team GB (Great Britain) has just missed out on the top 5 for now but has secured a total of 20 medals: six gold, seven silver and seven bronze.
