Having departed the Grand Duchy on 20 July, Team Luxembourg arrived back on Tuesday evening from a highly successful Special Olympic Games from Los Angeles in California.

The jubilant homecoming saw friends and family give a rousing and prolonged cheer to the athletes and coaches as they filed through the doors from the baggage reclaim and customs area to the arrivals lounge, decked out in their smart uniforms and many proudly wearing the 28 medals they had won at the games. With many arms aloft the members of the travelling party were presented with roses as they were greeted in the arrivals hall.

The Luxembourg team had been hosted by the Californian city of Big Bear Lake and visited many venues including the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and Sports Arena which hosted the Opening Ceremony which attracted around 6,500 athletes from 165 countries, with Michelle Obama addressing the attendees.
