The Screaming Fields Festival, organised by Rocklab, will return to Luxembourg this 13 July for its 10th edition.

Since 2010, the Screaming Fields Festival has presented audiences with a tailor-made artist support programme for young bands and musicians from Luxembourg. This year will once again see eight finalists, selected by the public and a jury, rock the stage of the Rockhal.

In addition, Rocklab has decided to team up with the Ministry of Equality between Women and Men (MEGA) to organise the third edition of the Screaming Fields Song Contest. The song contest complements the Screaming Fields Festival and its live aspect by focusing on the creative songwriting and production process. It aims at transforming the winner's initial idea into a finished song. This competition is open to bands and musicians aged between 12 and 25 who will write songs based on a specific theme.

This year, MEGA will sponsor the Grand Prize for the Artist Package and define the theme of the competition, "Democracy and Gender Equality". The chosen theme aims to shine a light on the topic of democracy in relation to equality between girls and boys and to encourage more young people to engage in society, in this case "explor[ing] innovative ways to reach young people through music and poetry", according to Minister of Equality Taina Bofferding. The patronage of the Screaming Fields Song Contest is the starting point of events planned throughout 2019 as part of the centenary of women's suffrage in Luxembourg.

The Screaming Fields Festival aims to scout, support and showcase young emerging bands and artists from Luxembourg. Its goal is not only to book bands and artists but to provide them with a dedicated support programme. Applications for bands and artists (12-25 years old) will open online on Friday 29 March and run until 23 April 2019 on www.screamingfields.lu. The public will then be able to vote for their favorite artists from 26 April to 17 May 2019.

Entry to the 10th Screaming Fields Festival and Song contest is free. Doors will open at 20:00 for an 20:30 start on Saturday 13 July 2019.
