The residents and visitors of Luxembourg will have the opportunity to discover more about the history of the Gare district on a lecture-tour this Sunday 20 September 2015.
The tour has been organised by the Musée National d'Histoire et d'Art and the Musée 3 Eechelen as a way of educating the public about the history of this region of Luxembourg City.
Visitors will pass through Place de la Gare and Avenue de la Gare, Place Wallis, the Sacré-Coeur church, the former Arbed palace, Avenue de la Liberté and Place de Paris as they learn about the passage which was an entertainment centre with cinemas, cabarets and shows.
The tour will start at Place de la Gare and will be conducted by Dr. Robert L. Philippart. The MNHA and Musée 3 Eechelen will ask for a €5 tour fee, but children can participate for free. Kulturpass and other discount cards will not be accepted.
Robert L. Philippart will also be conducting a guided 'Nuit des Musées' tour called 'La Ville en Lumière (The City in Light'). This will be offered in French at 20:00 and in Luxembourgish at 21:00.
