On Thursday 18 December 2025, the City of Luxembourg (Ville de Luxembourg - VdL) announced that lifting works will take place on Avenue de la Gare in Luxembourg-Gare on Sunday 21 December 2025.

According to the VdL, these works take place on Sunday between the hours of 06:00 and 12:00 in front of the building at 52 Avenue de la Gare and will involve a complete closure of traffic on the specified section for the duration of the work. 

This work will involve the following traffic changes:

• Avenue de la Gare will be closed to traffic between Rue de Bonnevoie and Place de la Gare.

• Rue du Fort Neipperg will be closed to through traffic between Avenue de la Gare and Rue du Chemin de Fer, except for residents and suppliers.

The VdL noted that its traffic service will ensure that appropriate signage is put in place and that the diversion route is clearly marked.

Furthermore, the following changes to public transport are planned:

Bus lines 4, 10, 13, 14/22 and 18

• Towards Hollerich and Gasperich, buses will be diverted via Place Wallis and the Rocade de Bonnevoie. The stops Al Avenue Quai 2 and Gare Centrale Quai 2 will be suspended and replaced by: Wallis Quai 4, Gare-Rocade Quai 2 and a temporary stop Gare Centrale / Rue de Hollerich Quai 2, located between Place de la Gare and Rue Wenceslas 1er.

• Towards the city centre, stops Gare Centrale Quai 1 and Al Avenue Quai 1 will be suspended and replaced by temporary stops: Gare Centrale / Rue de Hollerich Quai 1, located between Rue Wenceslas 1er and Place de la Gare, Gare-Rocade Quai 1 and Avranches Quai 1, located opposite 6 Boulevard d’Avranches.

Bus line 23

• Towards Gare Centrale, stop Al Avenue Quai 2 will be suspended and replaced by a temporary stop Fortuna Quai 1, located opposite 134 Boulevard de la Pétrusse.

• Towards Eich, Centre Culturel, stop Gare Centrale Quai 1 will be suspended and replaced by temporary stops: Gare Centrale / Rue de Hollerich Quai 1, located between Rue Wenceslas 1er and Place de la Gare, Gare-Rocade Quai 1 and Wallis Quai 3.

Bus line 29

• Towards the Airport and Senningerberg, stops Gare Centrale Quai 1 and Al Avenue Quai 1 will be suspended and replaced by Gare-Rocade Quai 1.

• Towards Hesperange, Cité Um Schlass, stops Wallis Quai 1 and Gare Centrale Quai 2 will be suspended and replaced by Gare-Rocade Quai 2.
