The National Roads Administration in preparation for the winter service for the 2022/2023 season has announced a series of dry tests of the "preventive salting" type.

These "dry tests" will be carried out towards the end of October or beginning of November 2022. In order to minimise any effect on morning traffic, the motorway service as well as each regional service will carry out these tests between 03:00 and 06:00. All the units engaged in the clearing and dusting operations of the state's road network are affected by these tests.

The purpose of these tests is to verify the correct operation of all equipment, including installations, vehicles and spreaders, as well as the correct progress of the various initiation procedures and salting rounds. It is also a question of familiarising new staff with the progress of a salting intervention. This adequate preparation will make it possible to detect possible technical and functional problems.

In case of dry pavements, a minimum of salt (five grams per square metre) will be spread over a maximum distance of only five kilometres from a complete tour. The test will be done without snowploughs. In case of risk of ice, salting will be done with the appropriate salt amount.
