Roadworks on the sliproads at the Helfenterbruck interchange and between the Lorentzweiler and Schoenfels interchanges will lead to road closures on the A6 and A7 motorways in Luxembourg this weekend.

The Roads Authority will proceed with works related to the reogranisation of the slip road from the Gasperich Cross towards the N34 and from the N34 towards Sterpenich at the Helfenterbruck interchange on the A6. These works will take place between 20:00 on Friday 20 September and 06:00 on Monday 23 September 2019. During these works, the slip roads at the Helfenterbruck interchange from Gasperich Cross towards the N34 and from the N34 towards Sterpenich will be closed to traffic.

Traffic coming from the Gasperich Cross in the direction of the N34 (Bertrange) will be diverted via the Strassen interchange and back onto the A6 towards the Helfenterbruck interchange. Similarly, traffic from Luxembourg-ville or the Bourmicht business area towards the A6 in the direction of Sterpenich will be diverted via the N34, then via the CR181 and the N6 towards the Strassen interchange and finally onto the A6 towards Sterpenich.

During this same period, the Roads Authority will proceed with a project related to the renewal of the wearing course on the A7 motorway between the Lorentzweiler and Schoenfels interchanges. Between 20:00 on Friday and 06:00 on Monday, the A7 motorway between the Lorentzweiler and Schoenfels interchanges will be closed in the direction of Ettelbrück, as will the section between the slip road and the Lorentzweiler interchange towards the Grünewald junction. The slip road at the Lorentzweiler interchange from the N7 towards Ettelbrück on the A7 will also be closed to traffic.

During this time, the A7 will be reduced to one-lane traffic between the Gosseldange tunnel entrance and the Lorentzweiler interchange in the direction of the Grünewald junction. Traffic from the Grünewald junction in the direction of Ettelbrück via the A7 will be diverted from the Lorentzweiler interchange via the N7 (Mersch) to the Mierscherbierg interchange and again onto the A7. Meanwhile, traffic from Ettelbrück towards the Grünewald junction via the A7 will be diverted from the Lorentzweiler junction via the roundabout and back onto the A7.

Since the preparatory work necessary for the closure of the A7 motorway will be carried out a few hours beforehand, traffic disruptions are expected in the early evening.
