On the evening of Tuesday 27 August 2019, a traffic accident involving a drink driver and a bus on the A1 motorway in Luxembourg left four passengers seriously injured.
At around 23:30 yesterday evening, a bus transporting ten passengers was driving along the A1 towards Germany when a car hit the rear of the vehicle near the Senningerberg exit. The force of the collision pushed the bus into the crash barriers, causing the vehicle to tip onto the driver's side. The car came to a stop a few metres in front of the bus before catching fire.
Four of the bus passengers sustained serious injuries, whilst the others were slightly injured in the accident.
Following the incident, a police patrol searched for the injured perpetrator who had fled the scene. They found the driver at home, intoxicated, before an ambulance took him to hospital.
The prosecution was informed and ordered a protocol.
