A number of traffic collisions occurred on Wednesday evening in Luxembourg, resulting in several injuries for those involved.

At around 18:30 on Wednesday, a female driver was getting out of her parked car on Rue d'Ehlerange in Esch-sur-Alzette when she inadvertently hit an approaching cyclist with the car door. The cyclist was injured and taken to hospital.

Around the same time, a traffic accident occurred on Route d'Ellange in Mondorf, which resulted in serious injuries for a pedestrian. A motorist crashed into another car in front, which caused the second car to crash into a third car. During the collision, a pedestrian was stuck between the two cars and suffered serious injuries. The pedestrian was taken to hospital, whilst the three vehicles involved in the crash had to be towed. A series of tests revealed that the driver who caused the accident had been under the influence of alcohol. The police subsequently confiscated the driver's licence and pressed criminal charges.

Moreover, the police have launched a call for witnesses for a third accident that occurred around 14:30 on Wednesday. On this occasion, a car hit a pedestrian who was approaching Givenich on the CR135. As a result of the collision, the young woman fell into a ditch and suffered minor injuries. Since the driver fled the scene, the Echternach police have called for witnesses who can provide further information on this incident. The vehicle in question was black with a Luxembourg registration plate. Anyone in possession of information regarding the vehicle and/or the accident is invited to contact the Echternach police via tel.: 244-72500.
