On Wednesday, two separate traffic collisions resulted in the death of an 81 year-old woman and serious injuries for one motorcyclist in Luxembourg.
At 07:00 on Wednesday morning, a serious collision occurred on the CR176 between Lasauvage and Niederkorn when a wild boar ran across the road in front of a motorcyclist. The driver's attempts to avoid the collision by swerving away from the animal ultimately failed and the impact of the collision threw the driver across the road and the motorcycle into a ditch.
The motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries from the incident and is currently receiveing medical care in hospital. Rue de Differdange was closed to traffic for about 30 minutes following the collision.
Later that same day, another serious road accident occurred on Route de Longwy in Merl. The collision, taking place around 12:50, involved a lorry and a car. For unknown reasons, the car driver lost control of her car and first hit a parked car before colliding with the rear of the lorry in front of her.
A patrol of the traffic police evaluated the scene of the accident and notified the prosecution. Due to the collision, Route de Longwy was temporarily blocked for the forensic services.
The woman, who suffered serious injuries, died in hospital later that afternoon.
