On Tuesday 5 December 2023, the LCGB trade union (the majority union in the transport sector) announced it had recently requested Luxembourg’s new Minister of Mobility and Public Works in the context of the elimination of bus services linking several industrial and steel sites in the Grand Duchy.

LCGB noted it had already met the Minister on 1 February 2023 to discuss this subject. Following this meeting, LCGB obtained a firm commitment that these lines would be maintained until a lasting and acceptable solution replaces them.

However, to date, no concrete decision or alternative has been proposed, even though it was agreed that the continuation of this file would be carried out in consultation with LCGB. After having described the various issues and concerns that the impacted employees encountered, the new minister, Yuriko Backes, finally decided to maintain these bus services for the time being.

LCGB noted it welcomed this decision and emphasised that the removal of these routes would have affected almost 800 employees who rely on them daily.
