On Friday 1 September 2023, François Bausch, Luxembourg’s Minister for Mobility and Public Works, and Claude Turmes, Minister for Energy, in the presence of Gilles Thilgen, First Alderman of the municipality of Parc Hosingen, inaugurated the first “SuperChargy” ultra-fast electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in the canton of Clervaux, in Hosingen.

About a year after the inauguration of the first SuperChargy ultra-fast charging stations on the motorway network of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the symbolic commissioning of the SuperChargy station in Hosingen is another step towards a densification of ultra-fast charging infrastructure throughout the national territory, the ministries noted.

On the occasion of this inauguration, Minister Bausch said: "Given the rapid electrification of the car fleet, with more than 33,000 electric cars registered in Luxembourg, it is crucial that a charging infrastructure adequate to this demand be created at throughout the country and not just along highways and in urban centres. The installation of the first SuperChargy ultra-fast charging stations in the canton of Clervaux in Hosingen further strengthens the charging network in the north of the country and will facilitate travel by 100% electric car along the N7.

Minister Turmes added: "The commissioning of the ultra-fast SuperChargy charging stations in Hosingen constitutes an important step for the inhabitants of the North of the country, by facilitating the rapid charging of their electric vehicles. These stations, like all public charging stations in Luxembourg, are powered by 100% green electricity, which helps us fight climate change by moving towards low CO2 emissions mobility.

A total of 90 ultra-fast charging stations will be spread over eighteen stations and service areas on the motorways and on the other main axes of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The installation of the SuperChargy terminals is provided by the network manager, Creos, financed in part by the European Union's "NextGenerationEU" economic recovery package and will be spread over the Luxembourg territory until 2024. Wasserbillig, Micheville, Lorentzweiler and Remich will be next to receive additional fast charging stations in 2023.
